Yesterday at Cannon Park, the staff cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for many of our waitresses and gift shop volunteers. A fun picnic to celebrate all those who give of their time so willingly. Thank you. Watch for our Reopening Day...it's SEPTEMBER 1ST!

The Sandhills Woman's Exchange hosted the Sandhills Community College staffers on November 7 at the 'Table of Five Fridays' complimentary lunch event. The executive team from SCC included (left to right) Dr. Sandy Stewart, President; D.J. Farmer, Executive VP & CFO; Chad Williams, VP Student Services; Michelle Bauer, Vice Provost; and Kirk Adkins, SWE volunteer and Advisor.
The Sandhills Woman's Exchange recently honored the first "Men of the Cabin" award. Tony Elms and Jim Wiltjer were the recipients of this award for their unfailing energy helping the historical non-profit. Over the past few years, the men have cooked pancakes for the breakfast with Santa event; planned and prepared a French Bistro Dinner fundraiser; and many more helping hand repairs for the log cabin. Sadly, Tony passed in July so his wife, Joyce Reehling, accepted the award posthumously with Jim Wiltjer at the SWE February Board meeting.
Breakfast with Santa on December 14 was a magic delight of tricks by Jazzy of Magic by David. After the pancakes galore, she entertained kids with magic and a host of animals to pet. Of course, Santa was the main guest for all to welcome. Hurry hurry, this is our last week for lunch and gift shopping...we close on Friday, Dec. 20.

SANDHILLS WOMAN'S EXCHANGE invited Presidents of local Garden Clubs to a complimentary TABLE OF FIVE FRIDAY lunch on March 22. Each month, the historical cabin Board Members invite a community group for this event to thank them for their local service. Board member Anne Wright, left, was the hostess for these garden club representatives whose members have provided flowers, donations and volunteer work to the SWE. Continuing around the table from Anne - Nancy Oakley, Seedlings Garden Club; Marcia Kuzniar, Pinehurst Garden Clubs; Barb Summers, Loblolly Garden Club; Joan Owen, CCNC Garden Club; Alice Romans-Hess, Botanicals Garden Club; and Victoria Adkins, Garden Club of the Sandhills. The volunteers and Board look forward to hosting the Pinehurst Business Partners for the lunch in April.

The Sandhills Woman’s Exchange hosted several staffers from Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills for their complimentary ‘TABLE OF FIVE FRIDAY’ lunch on September 22nd. Each month the SWE is open during their 200th year of the 1823 log cabin, different community leaders are asked to come for a Friday lunch while learning a little more about the historical gem in the Village of Pinehurst. A Board member of the SWE is always the host for the lunch and provides a homemade dessert for the group. Past groups entertained by the non-profit included The Pilot, Pinehurst Police, Pinehurst Fire Dept., Howell Masonry, Sandhills Community College, First Health Nurses, Pinehurst Village Council, Rotary Club of Pinehurst, Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railroad, Taylor Town Leaders, Pinehurst Public Services Dept., United Way and Moore County Chamber of Commerce. The log cabin Artisan Gift Shop is open through mid-December each Monday –Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the Cabin Café serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 910-295-4677.
